Lone Peak High School Boys Basketball (Highland, Utah) - Lone Peak High School is excited to announce the hiring of Mr. Robert Ross as the new head coach for the Lone Peak Basketball team after Coach David Evans steps down to accept the head coach position at Wasatch Academy.
Coach Ross graduated from Timpview High School and went on to play at the college level for Dixie Junior College (St. George, UT.) and Northwestern University (Evanston, Il.).
Coach Ross and his wife Mindy are involved members of the Lone Peak community where he has been an assistant basketball coach since 2006. He is enthusiastic and looks forward to working closely with the boys while continuing the success of the Lone Peak Basketball program.

Lone Peak High School Boys Basketball (Highland, Utah) - David Evans, who led Lone Peak High School boy’s basketball for the past three seasons, has resigned as head coach, Scott Sumner, Principal, Lone Peak High School has announced.
Evans has stepped down to accept the head coach position at Wasatch Academy.
From more than the 500 youth playing in the program’s D-League organization, to the student-athletes being pursued by the best university basketball institutions in the world, Coach Evans continued the Lone Peak legacy as one of the nation’s winningest, most consistent teams in the last decade.
In his three seasons at Lone Peak, Evans amassed a 67-14 overall record, three region championships, and 31-1 record in the UHSAA Region IV. Most recently, the Knights wrapped up a 23-4 season, finishing first in the region and won the 6A UHSAA State Title before earning a No. 8 seed in the Geico National High School Invitational (NHSI). Lone Peak’s season ended March 29th with an impressive 87-82 loss to the nation’s #1 ranked Montverde Academy (FL) in the first round of the NHSI.
“We would like to thank Coach Evans for his years of service to the Lone Peak basketball team. He has been an incredible teacher, coach and leader at Lone Peak High School. His time and service have made a difference to everyone who has had the opportunity of working with him,” Sumner said.
Sumner will conduct a nationwide search for the next head coach of the Lone Peak Knights.
