Lone Peak High School Boys Basketball (Highland, Utah) - David Evans, who led Lone Peak High School boy’s basketball for the past three seasons, has resigned as head coach, Scott Sumner, Principal, Lone Peak High School has announced.

Evans has stepped down to accept the head coach position at Wasatch Academy.

From more than the 500 youth playing in the program’s D-League organization, to the student-athletes being pursued by the best university basketball institutions in the world, Coach Evans continued the Lone Peak legacy as one of the nation’s winningest, most consistent teams in the last decade.

In his three seasons at Lone Peak, Evans amassed a 67-14 overall record, three region championships, and 31-1 record in the UHSAA Region IV. Most recently, the Knights wrapped up a 23-4 season, finishing first in the region and won the 6A UHSAA State Title before earning a No. 8 seed in the Geico National High School Invitational (NHSI). Lone Peak’s season ended March 29th with an impressive 87-82 loss to the nation’s #1 ranked Montverde Academy (FL) in the first round of the NHSI.

“We would like to thank Coach Evans for his years of service to the Lone Peak basketball team. He has been an incredible teacher, coach and leader at Lone Peak High School. His time and service have made a difference to everyone who has had the opportunity of working with him,” Sumner said.

Sumner will conduct a nationwide search for the next head coach of the Lone Peak Knights. To apply for the head basketball coaching position, please email Scott Sumner (ssumner@alpinedistrict.org) at Lone Peak High School. The position can also be found and applied for at https://alpineschools.org/employment. For those interested in applying for the position this could include a full-time teaching position.
